Ex-Prince Andrew’s Abandoned Sword Has an Ed Sheeran Connection — Report

A lesser-known detail from ex-Prince Andrew’s time at Royal Lodge is resurfacing as he transitions to a new residence. Reports suggest that among the items linked to the property is a ceremonial sword with an unexpected pop culture connection. The object has previously been tied to an alleged incident involving singer Ed Sheeran. Now, as Andrew’s belongings are being sorted and relocated, the story behind the sword is once again making headlines.

Ex-Prince Andrew’s sword left at Royal Lodge reportedly has a history with Ed Sheeran

As ex-Prince Andrew transitions between residences, reports indicate that several personal belongings remain connected to his former home at Royal Lodge. Among them is an antique sword that has gained attention due to its alleged role in a past celebrity mishap.

According to earlier reports from PEOPLE, the sword is believed to be the same one involved in an incident at a private gathering in 2016. It has been claimed that Princess Beatrice, while playfully mimicking a knighting ceremony for musician James Blunt, accidentally injured Ed Sheeran. The singer reportedly sustained a cut to his face during the moment, though details have varied over time.

At the time, Sheeran himself addressed the situation cautiously on “The Graham Norton Show.” He even referred to it as an “alleged” story. His manager, Stuart Camp, later suggested the injury did occur during a social gathering. However, he avoided confirming every detail surrounding the claim. Meanwhile, Blunt has disputed the version of events, reportedly suggesting the story may have been exaggerated.

The sword in question is said to have been part of ex-Prince Andrew’s collection at Royal Lodge, which housed a range of historical artefacts and artwork. Much of that collection is believed to be managed by the Royal Collection Trust. That means its exact location or ownership status is not publicly confirmed.

Andrew’s relocation follows significant changes in his living arrangements. After being stripped of royal titles and reportedly giving up his lease on Royal Lodge, he is said to be moving items, including artwork, to Marsh Farm, per the Mirror. Art logistics specialists have reportedly been involved in transporting parts of his collection, though officials have not confirmed specific items.
