Piers Morgan is reigniting an old feud. The podcaster and journalist briefly worked with Anderson Cooper during his short-lived stint as a CNN host.
The former America’s Got Talent judge hosted Piers Morgan Live on the network, replacing Larry King after Larry retired. Unfortunately, the Englishman’s program wasn’t long for the airwaves like Larry’s, getting cancelled after just three seasons. While he may want to forget his time at CNN, he hasn’t forgotten about Anderson calling him a “poisonous little backstabber” on a recent podcast.
Piers Morgan took aim at CNN’s Anderson Cooper
It doesn’t sound like Piers has many fond memories of CNN, and especially one of its star journalists. As a guest on Megyn Kelly’s podcast, he tore into the Anderson Cooper 360º host. According to Piers, CNN these days is “cringe” and “desperate.” In addition, he says that watching Anderson on television is “completely toe-curling.”
When Piers’ CNN show was cancelled in 2014, the former pointed the finger at Anderson. He blamed his poor ratings, believing that having Anderson’s show leading into his contributed to his bad numbers. Piers failed to attract an audience in his time slot on the Warner Bros. network. In the past, Piers has said that Anderson is a great field reporter but lacks the charisma to be a host.
Now in the world of podcasting, Piers brags about how well he’s doing. He claims that 42 million people watched clips of “our little tear-up with Bad Bunny.” Piers doubts Anderson could get anywhere near that on TV.
Over his career, Piers has had his share of feuds with celebrities and isn’t afraid to get into arguments. In February, he slammed the President for his criticisms of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show. Donald Trump called it one of the worst he’s ever seen. Piers strongly disagreed, praising its theatrics and energy.
