A couple of long-running news programs will remain on CBS. Entertainment Tonight has been on the air since 1981, with Inside Edition a staple for the network since 1989. Both shows can rest easy knowing they will be a part of the CBS Media Ventures programming slate for the 2026-27 broadcast season.
They are among the many that have received a two-season renewal. While CBS has gone through changes to its news telecasts, several it’s shows have been a hit for audiences. As such, the network is rewarding them with more new episodes.
The news magazines have been renewed

While one of its competitors is cutting some of its big-name programs, CBS is hanging on to many of theirs. John Budkins, the executive vice president of programming and syndication production for CBS Media Ventures, released a statement to Deadline among others following the announcement. “This upcoming slate reflects the incredible momentum across our entire portfolio,” said John. He adds that seven of the top 10 most run syndicated titles are currently on the air and are CBS productions.
There were questions about the longevity of shows like Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition. The reason is NBC’s recent announcement of a massive overhaul. That included longtime programs like Access Hollywood, which was cancelled.
Entertainment Tonight has aired over 10,000 episodes on weekdays. It holds a Guinness World Record for the longest-running entertainment news program on television. There are also several international versions of the show. Meanwhile, Inside Edition is the longest-running newsmagazine program not strictly focused on hard news.
Those weren’t the only shows that got the green light from CBS Ventures to continue. America’s Funniest Home Videos, The Drew Barrymore Show, Hot Bench, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! are among the other shows that will be a part of the 2026-27 slate. Entertainment Tonight will be returning for a 46th season, while Inside Edition will return for a 39th.
