You can add Sir Ian McKellen to the list of people smitten by Johnny Depp. The elder Academy Award-nominated actor was thoroughly impressed by Johnny’s figure, noting how he is in such great shape.
Ian admitted, “I fell in love with him (Johnny),” in a recent interview. It wasn’t just his good looks, but also the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s charm and professionalism on set. Ian and Johnny will be starring in a holiday classic later this year.
The pair worked together on Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol

It promises to be a busy year for Sir Ian in 2026. Soon, he will portray the iconic role of Jacob Marley in Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol. Johnny will play the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in the adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel. In an interview with Variety, Sir Ian gushed over Johnny, saying he is “in spankingly good form.” He added that he was very kind and obliging to others during the production of that film. Johnn according to Ian, created “a wonderful feeling on the set.”
Although he was only on set of the movie for six days, Ian says it was memorable, nonetheless. At the time of his interview, Ian was out promoting the film The Christophers, where he portrays Julian Sklar. At 86, the actor has had ample time to reflect on his life. He recently admitted that he no longer sees himself as “immortal.”
Ian admits that he doesn’t connect his life with Johnny’s except that the latter is getting old, while admitting that he already has. The Christophers comes out in US theatres on April 10. Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol is set for release on November 13.
