Kamala Harris Considering Running for President in 2028

Kamala Harris might be hoping to right the wrongs of 2024. In a recent chat with former Presidential candidate Al Sharpton, the ex-Vice President said that she’s considering running for the top job in 2028. Kamala ran alongside Joe Biden in the 2020 election, with the latter defeating incumbent Donald Trump.

Four years after that, Kamala was thrust into the spotlight as a late candidate after Joe withdrew from the race. Kamala was speaking at the National Action Network convention in New York on Friday.

The former VP lost the 2024 election to Donald Trump

It appears as though Kamala hasn’t lost her ambitions to make American herstory. The first Vice President in American history fell short of becoming the first female President, narrowly losing to Donald Trump. Having been so close to winning, while also serving as second in command for four years, are for her two signs that she understands better than most what being President requires.

There has been widespread speculation all year that Kamala may seek the Democratic nomination in 2028. She said in a February interview that she “might” run again. In her chat with the reverend on Friday, Kamala said that many Americans are unhappy with the status quo at the moment. It remains to be seen what alternative she is planning to offer should she run again.

Kamala considering another run for President won’t come as a huge surprise for many. In her book 107 Days, she argued that “recklessness” led Democrats not to stop Joe from running for re-election. She thinks that hurt her chances of winning after Joe dropped out.

The 2024 results indicate that Kamala lost by a mere two million votes. That said it was the largest electoral college loss since Barack Obama defeated Mitt Romney in 2012. Kamala is among the many Democrats who’ve expressed interest in running in 2028. Among the other big names mulling it over are Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, Ro Khanna, and Mark Kelly.
