Justin Theroux has a lot going on right now, especially at home as a new dad — but during his appearance on TODAY, the actor-filmmaker detailed how the family dog is handling the atmosphere around his and wife Nicole Brydon Bloom’s newborn baby.
Theroux appeared on the show with his pooch, Kuma. He talked about Season 2 of “Running Point,” the recent birth of his son, and as the hosts introduced Kuma as his longtime sidekick, the conversation highlighted how she has adjusted to the baby.
Justin Theroux shares his dog’s ‘energy is great’ around new baby
Speaking about Kuma’s presence around his newborn baby, Justin Theroux said that the dog has been “perfect.” He added that she has been “gentle” and “her energy is great.”
Moreover, Theroux said that Kuma has shown no signs of acting out since the baby arrived, noting, “She’s been so sweet,” and adding, “Honestly, she reads the room. She’s very tender.” He explained that when they bring the baby into a room, Kuma would “post up near us, keep her eye on the door” to protect the family.
The new dad also shared what has surprised him most about parenthood so far. He said, “I just love looking into his eyeballs,” calling it “a wonderful thing,” while describing the early days at home with, “We’re in that period now, of course, you know, where it’s a lot of just quiet tiptoeing around the house and occasional crying.” But he says, “Yeah, it’s wonderful.”
Away from the studio, Theroux and Brydon Bloom have started to step back into public life. In an Instagram post that Theroux shared after a red carpet outing, he praised his wife and the new mom, writing, “If anyone deserves this night out it’s the woman I’m lucky enough to be standing with right here.”
Between the new routine with the baby and work commitments, Justin Theroux’s comments indicate he feels grateful — and that everyone seems to be adjusting well, including his “sweet” and “gentle” dog.
