On Wednesday, Sex and the City star Sarah met with Camilla at New York Public Library’s main branch in Manhattan. The pair enjoyed a personal look at a specially curated selection from the NYPL’s America250 collection.

During the visit, they were accompanied by NYPL president Dr Anthony Marx and shown books and documents with ties to both the UK and the US. One of the key pieces Sarah and Camilla saw was a copy of the Declaration of Independence.

The duo also got a look at some special editorial pieces, like a letter from English author Jane Austen. She wrote the letter to a friend to celebrate the sale of her iconic novel, Pride and Prejudice.

Much to the delight of Camilla, she and Sarah also saw an early copy of Now We are Six by A.A. Milne, author of the original Winnie the Pooh books. “Oh! Favorite, favorite, favorite!” she said as she saw the book contained some of the very first illustrations of Roo, drawn by E.H. Shepard.

After their tour, Sarah and Camilla attended a reception event. There, the pair also spent time with Vogue legend Anna Wintour.

“In the face of a lot of cuts in libraries and education, and public schools, my great focus today is on funding for libraries,” Sarah said in a speech at the event. “Access to information is one of the most consequential gifts we have typically given Americans. I know that matters a great deal to [the queen]. Some think that’s political, I think it’s fundamental.”
