Sydney Sweeney‘s performance in one particular scene in the latest episode of Euphoria has drawn attention due to her facial expression, which viewers noticed was natural and wasn’t altered by Botox. Consequently, they took to social media to praise the actor for not using the neurotoxic protein. They remarked how this was a rarity in an entertainment landscape where the chemical’s usage is common.
Sydney Sweeney praised for her facial expression in Euphoria
A scene in the latest episode of Euphoria Season 3, focusing on Sydney Sweeney, has reignited discourse about Botox use and its negative impact. In it, Heather (played by Jessica Blair Herman), Cassie’s neighbor and friend, tells her at Cassie’s wedding to Nate (Jacob Elordi) that she invests in her children’s college funds. In response, the latter asks what her relationship to that aspect of the former’s life was.
Fans paid close attention to the scene and noticed the striking difference between the two actors’ facial expressions. They pointed out how, unlike Herman, whose expressions seemed stilted, indicating Botox usage, Sweeney did not inject her face with the neurotoxin, allowing her to convey her feelings naturally. They highlighted the wrinkles on her forehead, using them as evidence to back their belief.
Critic Mary Morgan wrote, “The difference here is striking. Actresses without botox are quickly becoming an endangered species.”
Meanwhile, another opined that Sweeney’s facial appearance looked much better than Herman’s because she did not artificially enhance it. “Botox makes mannequins out of people,” the user remarked. They also warned that, in the future, people will realize Botox’s adverse effects on physical appearance.
Yet another fan joked how Botox was so bad that it made Sweeney’s acting seem better by comparison.
Notably, Sweeney herself has been open about embracing her natural beauty and not using enhancements. While interacting with Variety, the “Christy” star told the outlet that someone once told her to get Botox or she would fail in her career. She added that she has not altered her body in any way, even expressing her fear of needles to get her point across. The “Anyone But You” actor further stated, “No tattoos. Nothing. I’m going to age gracefully.”
