Timothée Chalamet Goes Solo at Knicks Game as Ben Stiller Choose Met Gala

Timothée Chalamet stuck to his courtside routine even as fashion’s biggest night unfolded across town. While celebrities gathered for the Met Gala, the actor chose basketball instead. But this time, his usual Knicks companion wasn’t by his side. Here’s what happened.

The scheduling clash between the Met Gala and the NBA playoffs once again forced fans to pick sides. Ben Stiller, a longtime New York Knicks supporter, attended the Met Gala instead of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals at Madison Square Garden.

Even at the red carpet event, Stiller admitted he would rather be at the game. “If you can’t be at Madison Square Garden watching the Knicks… this is a great second choice,” he said, still backing his team to win the series in six games. His wife, Christine Taylor, added that they were “representing for the Knicks” by wearing the team’s signature orange and blue (via USA Today).

Timothee Chalamet, meanwhile, made a very different choice. He showed up courtside at Madison Square Garden as the Knicks dominated the Philadelphia 76ers with a 137-98 win. It was a familiar scene, as the actor has become a regular at playoff games. Interestingly, Kylie Jenner, who often joins him courtside, attended the Met Gala instead. The couple split their evening because of the overlap, much like last year, when Chalamet skipped the gala to watch a playoff game from home.

Beyond basketball, Chalamet continues to be one of Hollywood’s most in-demand stars. He broke out with Call Me by Your Name, earning an Oscar nomination at a young age. Since then, he has led major films like Dune, Wonka, and Little Women, building a reputation for balancing blockbuster roles with critically acclaimed performances. His awards recognition includes nominations from the Academy Awards, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes.
