Swifties were hoping to see the pop icon and her fiancé make their Met Gala debut as a couple. However, they did not attend the glamorous event, reportedly for a good reason.

The “Cruel Summer” singer and her partner did not attend the Met Gala 2026 reportedly because of their wedding preparations.
As per Cosmopolitan, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are busy preparing for their upcoming summer nuptials and decided to give the gala a miss. She last made an appearance at the gala a decade ago in 2016. At the time, Swift wore a custom silver snakeskin minidress by Louis Vuitton. She bleached her hair platinum blonde and styled her hair in a chic bob, adding an extra oomph factor to her look.
As per Page Six, the high-profile couple will wed on July 3 in New York City, which happens to be their favorite destination. Moreover, Swift and Kelce have reportedly already distributed “save-the-date” wedding cards.
Previously, the outlet had reported that the two planned to wed on June 13 this year ahead of Kelce’s new NFL season. However, that seems unlikely considering he is hosting a New Heights live podcast with his brother on June 15.
In fact, as per OK Magazine, Swift and Kelce are planning a “decoy” wedding to distract the media from the actual wedding ceremony. As per various media reports, the duo is planning the wedding themselves without the involvement of their parents. Not only that, they have reportedly requested their guests not to give them any gifts; instead, to donate to charities on their behalf.
Notably, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce also did not attend the Met Gala last year and prioritized their relationship instead. A source shared with PEOPLE, “They have been traveling nonstop and very much enjoy it. They are making the most of their time off together. They are hanging out with friends, too. It’s a special time for them. They value the same things. Right now, the focus is very much on private time out of the spotlight.”
