Donald Trump is berating yet another female journalist. That has been a recurring theme for the President in his second term in the White House. The latest to feel his wrath is Norah O’Donnell. The veteran from 60 Minutes had a sit-down interview with the POTUS following the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
On Monday, Trump shared his feelings about the highly experienced correspondent. “She’s terrible,” he said. The POTUS adds that he wanted to walk out of that interview but believes doing so would’ve only made for a bigger story.
Trump didn’t appreciate Norah’s interview questions
If there’s one thing we can say about the President is that he’s rather consistent. Among his biggest consistencies has been calling out female reporters. While speaking to Salem News Channel, the President called Norah “a regular person that gets paid a lot of money.” For him, there’s nothing special about her, while he contends that any woman off the street “would do just as good a job as her.”
Among the biggest issues Trump had with Norah was a question surrounding the manifesto of the accused shooter at the correspondents’ dinner. Norah read out some of Cole Thomas Allen’s words that he would not allow “a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.” Trump fired back, saying the shooting suspect is a sick person. Meanwhile, he told Norah that she “should be ashamed” for reading that out loud.
This is yet another chapter in the war of words the President has had with numerous female reporters. Last November, he asked one woman, “Are you a stupid person?” The comments were directed at Nancy Cordes who wondered whether Rahmanullah Lakanwal was vetted following accusations that he’d shot two members of the National Guard.
Although Norah reiterated that she was just reading what the alleged shooter wrote, the President contends she shouldn’t be doing so on the air. Cole is facing a charge of attempting to assassinate the President and two federal gun crimes.
