Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni both earned no money from their lawsuit settlement, as per various media reports. However, the legal battle between the It Ends With Us co-stars is far from over. Moreover, Lively is still asking the court to make Baldoni pay her attorneys’ fees and pay additional damages in connection with Baldoni’s failed defamation suit against her. Notably, the lawsuit was settled two weeks before the case was scheduled to go to trial on May 18.
Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively reportedly settled lawsuit with no compensation
Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively reportedly settled their lawsuit with zero payout, according to multiple media reports. On Monday, May 4, their attorneys released a joint statement: “The end product — the movie It Ends With Us — is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life. Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors — and all survivors — is a goal that we stand behind” (via PEOPLE).
The attorneys further shared, “We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard. We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.”
The terms of the agreement were not shared publicly. However, sources tied to Variety revealed, “Anyone purporting to confirm the terms of the confidential settlement at this point is misleading you. More information about this confidential settlement will be on the court’s docket in the coming days.”
A source revealed to Page Six that Lively and Baldoni had been negotiating for a few weeks and “were encouraged to reach an agreement.” The insider said, “They finally came to an agreement today. It was a last-minute deal.” Most of her earlier claims, including allegations of sexual harassment, had already been dismissed last month. With this settlement, the former co-stars successfully avoided a trial that was set to begin on May 18.
Baldoni’s side was reportedly “ecstatic” at the resolution of the case. However, Baldoni’s $400 million defamation suit, which was dismissed last year, is yet to reach a final conclusion.
