During the 2009 MTV VMAs, Taylor Swift won her first VMA trophy for Best Female Video for her song, “You Belong with Me.” When the singer-songwriter was giving her acceptance speech, Kanye West, who believed it should have been Beyoncé’s moment, got on stage to interrupt Swift, who was a young rising artist at the time. The rapper took the mic from her and said, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!” Since then, the moment has been etched in the history of the award show as one of the most infamous incidents, sparking controversies, feuds, and more.

Now, during her guest appearance in a recent episode of the “Ball in the Family Podcast,” Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend, Amber Rose, admitted that she was partially at fault in the rapper interrupting Taylor Swift’s VMAs 2009 acceptance speech. While recalling the moment, the model and TV personality said, “Um, it’s partially my fault.” She continued, “I’m like when I’m with a man…I’m his biggest cheerleader.”

Amber Rose then revealed, “So when I was with Kanye at the time, and we get in the car, we about to go to the VMAs and I’m like, ‘Babe, you got that bottle of Hennessy upstairs like you a superstar.'” She continued, “‘You need to get the Henny.’ I’m hyping him up.” After that, the model explained that Kanye West said, “Let me go get the henny.” The TV personality then disclosed, “And it kind of backfired because like all of a sudden I’m just sitting there and then he’s on stage.” “And I’m like, ‘Oh, I was not expecting that,'” she added.
