Livvy Dunne continued her streak of daring Sports Illustrated Swimsuit moments with one of her boldest looks from the 2026 issue. The gymnast-turned-content creator posed in a dramatically plunging black swimsuit by Akoia Swim while shooting in Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico. She embraced the edgy aesthetic of this year’s beach editorial.
Livvy Dunne’s plunging Akoia swimsuit is as see-through as it gets for Sports Illustrated
Photographed by James Macari, Livvy Dunne wore a handcrafted crochet-style one-piece. It dipped dangerously low at the front while exposing nearly her entire side profile through massive cutouts. Thin string ties held the barely-there silhouette together, while the open-knit construction gave the swimsuit an almost fully see-through appearance from certain angles. The high-cut leg openings further elongated the look, pushing the already revealing design even more.
The swimsuit came from Akoia Swim — a brand known for its handmade crochet techniques, crafted by Balinese women artisans using traditional methods passed down through generations. According to the brand, each piece can take up to ten days to complete by hand. Thus, it gives the swimsuit an artisanal edge under its provocative design.
Dunne kept the styling intentionally minimal, allowing the swimsuit to stand out. She opted for loose blonde waves, bronzed makeup, and a nude lip that complemented the bohemian mood of the shoot. Set against the warm stone architecture and scenic coastal backdrop of Loreto, the look leaned heavily into the Burning Man-inspired direction, as SI Swimsuit described for the editorial. The magazine further mentioned that the location is ideal for those who enjoy “sports like surfing and diving,” making it not only a scenic but also an activity space.
The LSU gymnast has now appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues since her debut in 2023, making her an iconic star. Outside of modeling, Dunne became one of the biggest names in the NIL era during her gymnastics career and is set to make her television debut in the upcoming “Baywatch” reboot.
