Amanda Peet recalls having a ‘crush’ on Matt Damon and how the actor surprised her before theater show
Amanda Peet and Matt Damon worked together in the 2005 film, “Syriana.” At the time, she was also starring in the 2005 Off-Broadway premiere of “This Is How It Goes.” The actress shared a funny story with the “Martian” star on a career retrospective at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. Host Sarah Paulson agreed when the celebrity guest revealed her crush.
Talking about the particular time, Peet recalled, “So, like two weeks later, we had to do a re-shoot on Syriana. And okay, fine. I had a crush on Matt Damon. Like, who doesn’t?” Then, she proceeded to narrate the anecdote, leaving the crows in stitches.
According to her, Damon asked her what she had been up to. Peet shared that she was doing a live theatre at The Public. To this, the actor replied that the venue was near his house and that he would definitely come. The latter panicked and requested him not to visit, and if he did, then he should not tell her.
She tried to make him understand that his presence could make her nervous on stage. “I was like, ‘Promise me, because it’s not funny,’” she recalled. While Damon promised at that moment, things didn’t turn out as she wanted. Peet revealed that she received an envelope a few days later when she was in her dressing room just before her play was about to start.
There was a handwritten note inside it. “I pull it out. Matt Damon stationery: ‘I will be silently judging you,’” Peet added. She then joked about how nervous she was during her performance.
