Donald Trump Chooses Golf Over Attending Christian Faith Event

President Donald Trump reportedly chose to play golf over a White House event on May 17. Several reports have suggested that the 79-year-old president spent the afternoon playing at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, and skipped the Christian faith event, which highlighted the Church’s role in history and civic life, and was attended by thousands.

Donald Trump snubs religious event to hit the golf course

According to OK! Magazine, Donald Trump arrived at the golf club just before 1 p.m. and remained there till 4:22 p.m. His visit took place during the Rededicate 250: National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving, a nine-hour event that took place at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

The Freedom 250 website described the event as “the scene of a historic gathering as Americans of every background across the country prepare for the nation’s 250th birthday with Scripture, testimony, prayer, and rededication of our country as One Nation to God.”

It further stated, “From morning fellowship in front of the U.S. Capitol to an evening filled with music anchored at the main stage on 12th Street, Rededicate 250 will be rooted in giving thanks for God’s presence in our national life throughout 250 years of American history and asking for his guidance for the next 250.”

But Trump did spare some time to post on Truth Social, “I HOPE EVERYBODY AT REDEDICATE 250 IS HAVING A GOOD TIME. IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO TO HELP, JUST HAVE OUR BEAUTIFUL, BOTH INSIDE AND OUT, RACHAEL C.D., GIVE ME A CALL. I’M BACK FROM CHINA!!!”

However, the post met with strong scrutiny online. Critics pointed out that the post came after a similar instance where Trump skipped Easter Sunday church services and instead took a motorcade tour in April 2026. Trump also sparked religious criticism by repeatedly sharing images on Truth Social that compare him to Jesus.

In addition to this, he also spent Easter Sunday, the day Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, making threats toward Iran. He posted on Truth Social, “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!”
