Stephen Colbert recalled the “butt” joke that never aired after Donald Trump won the 2016 election. The renowned host broadcasted a never-before-seen joke about the current U.S. president during a recent episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
During Monday’s episode, Colbert shared that, as a treat for the audience, he wanted to show some “fun-to-show-you” moments. These included fun bits that had never been aired before. He playfully titled the segment “The Worst of The Late Show,” adding that it featured some of the “best worst stuff” they had ever created.
The 62-year-old TV host explained that some of the jokes had been prepared by his team for the 2016 election, when Trump defeated Hillary Clinton. He revealed that he and his team were so confident Clinton would win that they put significant effort into planning a celebration ahead of the results.
However, the outcome was not what they had expected. The CBS host explained, “We were so sure that The New York Times prediction needle was right, we hired a bunch of naked male models with the words ‘I Am With Her’ painted on their full, plump butts.” The “I’m With Her” phrase referenced Clinton’s unofficial campaign slogan. He further jokingly said, “Sadly, all of those models had to be put down.”
Colbert added that they tried their best to “save the bit” the moment they realized Trump would win the elections. “As the outcome became clear, we repainted their butts to say, ‘We are f—ed,” he said.
