New Texas Wives Bravo Show Faces Backlash and Petition From Angry Residents

Many people living in Boerne are voicing their displeasure about an upcoming Bravo show. Secrets, Lies, Texas Wives was greenlit by the network with shooting occurring in that Texas community. The series will focus on the lives of a close‑knit group of women.

An online petition has begun with many opposing to the show filming in the area. The city has gotten word about the backlash at the same time as the public.

A new reality show is not what some people in Boerne want. Members of the Texas Hill community are firing back against the filming of a new show in the area.

A Change.org petition criticizes reality shows for “amplifying personal dramas,” and “projecting skewed realities to the public.” As entertaining as these shows are, the petition states that reality shows like this will risk “the very fabric of communities it chooses to portray.”

It’s unclear the impact this petition has had on city officials or the show’s production team. There are over 500 signatures thus far. A production manager for the series reportedly contacted the city, informing them that filming would mostly occur in residential homes. Some scenes would take place downtown and at local restaurants.

Many in the area are concerned that Boerne will be misrepresented by this show. They worry about the storylines that might come about and the labels that might be associated with the city in the future. A woman named Liza commented on the petition, alleging that “Reality shows do more harm than good. Please leave Boerne out of this drama.”

On May 11, Bravo announced this show, along with the renewal of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island for another season.  Secrets, Lies, Texas Wives will stream on Peacock and air on Bravo.
