Anne Hathaway channeled an ethereal, aquatic siren in a plunging Mugler dress in a new photoshoot for Elle Magazine. Captured by Norma Jean Roy, she graced the cover of Elle USA and sat down for a wide-ranging interview ahead of the release of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic drama, “The Odyssey,” which stars her as Odysseus’ wife, Penelope.
Anne Hathaway looks like a water goddess in plunging Mugler dress for Elle
Anne Hathaway looked no less than a water goddess in the new photos from Elle Magazine. She wore a seafoam green column-style dress. It featured a deeply plunged halter neckline that was softly draped, cascading down the torso into a wet look silhouette. The gown hugged her frame before pooling at her feet, submerged in the water. The semi-sheer fabric is completely saturated at the hem, creating an ombre effect.
Perched atop her head was an avant-garde, structural headpiece by Celia Kritharioti. The piece featured expansive, circular wire frames covered in delicate, wispy white feathers that extended outwards like a halo. Through the cascading sheet of water, the headpiece created a surreal distortion. Further, she accessorized with a pair of delicate drop earrings and a single, sleek metallic bracelet from Bulgari. The minimalist styling maintained the focus on her gown’s fluid texture.
Hathaway wore her long hair in a slicked-back, wet look. Meanwhile, the makeup featured a stark, icy blue smoky eye that wrapped around the lids, paired with a glossy, deep berry lip. The waterfall-like set design enhanced the water goddess aesthetic.
Another picture from the same shoot leaned into a dark, romantic Ophelia-inspired narrative. It captured the “Princess Diaries” star wearing an emerald green gown from Saint Laurent’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection by Anthony Vaccarello. Crafted from a semi-sheer fabric, the dress has heavy ruffling and tightly gathered tiers running along the bodice and down the length of the torso. Its long, billowy sleeves were gathered at the wrist. A Bulgari necklace sat on her collarbone, while she lay down in the water in a relaxed pose.
