Tiger Woods paid an emotional tribute to his late father, Earl, on social media during Memorial Day. His father passed away in 2020 after suffering a heart attack. The post comes a few months after Woods’ DUI arrest and being taken to an out-of-country treatment facility for seeking treatment. Moreover, he earlier also announced his hiatus from golf, also withdrawing from leading the US team in the Ryder Cup in 2027.
Tiger Woods posts on Instagram days after DUI arrest
Woods took to Instagram stories to honor his late father, Earl, on Memorial Day. He wrote, “My father was a Special Forces operator with two tours in Vietnam and 20 years of service.” Expressing his utmost respect for him and the things he did for the country, he added, “To all those like my father, we all say thank you for your sacrifices. Without them, we wouldn’t have the greatest country on earth.” This story was also reposted by his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump (via Page Six).
Woods was arrested in March 2026 after rolling over a Land Rover near his Jupiter Island home. The incident occurred when he tried to pass the vehicle but ended up hitting the back of it instead. He made it safely out of the incident but was reported to be under the influence while driving the car.
Further, authorities alleged that two pills were found in his pants pocket. As he refused to submit to a urinalysis test and damaged the property, he was handcuffed. Although he was later released from Martin County Jail, he pleaded not guilty. His attorney later requested that a Florida judge permit him to travel outside the country to seek necessary treatment.
Moreover, Woods also announced a break from golf to “seek treatment and focus on my health.” Recently, speculations sparked when his private jet made its way to America from Switzerland, making many wonder if Tiger Woods was aboard and if his rehabilitation was completed.
