Sydney Sweeney launches her own production company, Honey Trap
As per Deadline, Sydney Sweeney has launched her own production company, Honey Trap. Notably, Honey Trap has also signed a first-look deal with Sony Pictures. Sweeney previously starred in and was executive producer on the sleeper hit, Anyone but You.
The 28-year-old actress is already working with Sony Pictures on the Barbarella remake. Edgar Wright will direct, and Jane Goldman and Honey Ross have been recruited to pen the project. She is also attached to produce The Registration, which is being adapted by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski for Sony Pictures. It seems like Sweeney wants to expand outside the actress tag and wants to earn recognition as a creative force to be reckoned with.
The actress previously recruited Glen Powell to star opposite her in the surprise box office hit Anyone but You. The film grossed more than $210 million worldwide. Furthermore, as per the outlet, Sweeney may don the director’s hat at Sony sooner rather than later.
This move comes after Sweeney was heavily criticized by fans for her hypersexualized portrayal of Cassie in Euphoria season 3. Actual OnlyFans creators slammed the actress for her aggressive and inauthentic portrayal of an OnlyFans creator. However, despite the raging controversy, a lot of fans believed that Sweeney was the best thing about Euphoria season 3.
The Housemaid star and Sony released a statement: “At Honey Trap, we believe the most unforgettable stories live in contradiction. Beauty and danger, intimacy and power, vulnerability and control. Our mission is to create bold, cinematic film and television that challenges perception, sparks conversation, and leaves a lasting emotional imprint. We are committed to championing visionary filmmakers, complex characters, and stories that push beyond expectation while remaining deeply entertaining and emotionally accessible to audiences worldwide.”
