Whoopi Goldberg Mocks Donald Trump Reaction to Zohran Mamdani’s NYC Sweep

The View mainstay Whoopi Goldberg has ripped into Donald Trump after the president went on yet another social media rant, bashing the primary victories of politicians endorsed by New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani. In response, the EGOT winner expressed confusion about Trump’s exaggerated reaction, as the elections had taken place in New York and not Washington.

On the June 24 episode of The View, Goldberg highlighted how all three of the Mamdani-supported candidates had won their respective primaries in New York. She then alluded to the Truth Social media posts made by Donald Trump, mocking his response to Zohran Mamdani’s NYC sweep.

“People at the White House are losing their minds over this,” the Sister Act star remarked. “I’m not sure I get why, because they’re in Washington. We’re here in New York. I don’t know why they’re mad.”

Earlier this week, Darializa Avila Chevalier, Claire Valdez, and Brad Lander, who are backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, secured victories in the NYC primary election. This prompted Donald Trump to lash out on Truth Social, scrutinizing Zohran Mamdani over the win.

“Mayor Mamdani pulled through 3 solid Communists, and has received loud and universal applause from the Fake News Media,” he wrote in a June 24 post. “Congratulations Mr. Mayor! I went 16-0 last night, helping to elect wonderful American Patriots, and the Media doesn’t say a word. Over the last two years, my endorsement has netted 259 Primary WINS, and almost no losses, with Zero media attention!!! FAKE NEWS.”

Earlier in the day, Trump had noted that the “beautiful” nation of America will “never be a communist country.” Goldberg’s co-host Joy Behar also added to her criticism by saying, “Obviously, New Yorkers are not watching Fox constantly. And they’re not afraid of the term ‘democratic socialism.'”

She continued, “I think they’re scared of the term,” before adding, “People have had it with this right-wing, nasty politics that we’ve had to subject ourselves [to] since this guy got into office.”
