Donald Trump Inserted Himself Into Taylor Swift’s Biggest Weekend

Donald Trump’s White House interrupted Taylor Swift’s wedding weekend celebrations with a flurry of social media posts seemingly mocking the pop star. The official administration accounts targeted Swift on the same day she married NFL star Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden. This essentially reignited a long-running feud between the president and the singer.

White House appears to mock Taylor Swift’s wedding

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce exchanged vows on Friday in New York City in front of reportedly 1,000 guests. As photos and videos of the purple-lit “JUST&T Married” billboard circulated online, the White House responded by sharing an edited version of the same image. The altered graphic replaced Swift and Kelce’s wedding message with the words “Trump Is Your President,” as the caption said, “It’s happened!”

Swift’s wedding-day post was not an isolated jab. On Thursday night, the White House Instagram account had already unveiled what it branded “America’s Eras Tour,” a parody of Swift’s record-breaking 2023 concert series. The collage featured historic American imagery dominated by portraits of Donald Trump himself. The caption lifted Swift’s own lyrics, declaring “It’s a long time coming,” a line that opens her song “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince” and served as the motif for her tour’s intro sequence.

By Friday, the social media campaign had expanded across platforms. Two videos posted to X repackaged moments from American history into a series of themed “eras”. These included “The Founding Era” and “The Industrial Era” — complete with AI-generated visuals.

One clip, soundtracked to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now,” covered “The American Era.” Meanwhile, another montage set to The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside” depicted “The Modern Era.” The latter featured pop culture references from Shrek to High School Musical, and even Swift herself.

The timing of the blitz was such that Swift and Kelce’s wedding coincided with the 250th anniversary of America’s founding. The president celebrated this holiday with his own patriotic programming.
