What happened to IShowSpeed during the FIFA event
The incident allegedly occurred at Hard Rock Stadium on July 3. IShowSpeed was attending the match wearing a Cape Verde jersey. A video clip shows him confronting an Argentina supporter. The clip is now available on his YouTube livestream.
FIFA has reportedly already started investigating the incident. The organization has addressed the allegations in an official statement. Officials believe that football should be and is always welcome for everyone. They are strictly looking into the matter.
“The FIFA World Cup is a celebration of unity, diversity and respect,” FIFA said. “Anyone who acts in a manner that undermines these values is not welcome.” It has not yet released any official details on the matter. No disciplinary actions have been taken yet.
Meanwhile, another incident has reportedly taken place on July 7 during the Argentina vs Egypt match. A section of the crowd in the match was seen making monkey gestures towards IShowSpeed while he livestreamed. Both incidents are now under FIFA’s radar.
Darren Jason Watkins Jr., alias IShowSpeed, has amassed a massive audience on YouTube. He currently has millions of supporters on both YouTube and TikTok. During the tournament, he livestreamed many World Cup matches. FIFA president Gianni Infantino also appeared in one of his previous broadcasts.
The reported incident followed another racist controversy during the tournament. France star Kylian Mbappé recently condemned racist remarks from a Paraguayan senator. The French Football Federation has announced legal action on this incident. That case remains separate from FIFA’s latest investigation.
