Ex-Prince Andrew Resumes Previously Banned Activity After Royal Exile — Report

Ex-Prince Andrew reportedly resumed horseback riding after months away from the saddle. The ex-royal had been based at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate. He was photographed during an hour-long ride in Norfolk.

A new report said the activity had been restricted after his royal exile. The comeback was brief, though, because the horses were only on short loan. The story framed the ride as a limited return to a familiar routine outside palace life.

Ex-Prince Andrew spotted horseback riding across Sandringham Estate, per report

As per The Sun report, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was pictured riding this week. The outlet said photos showed him in a blue shirt on the Sandringham estate. It described the outing as his “first time since he was exiled in February.” The report said royal aides had banned horseback riding after the exile began. Palace circles had frowned on earlier photos during the wider controversy. An insider said, “He’s bored rigid.”

Meanwhile, the report said the horse arrangement was temporary. The Sun said the horses had been sent from Windsor by the King. However, they were on “a short loan.” The insider said Andrew had been a regular rider in Windsor. The source claimed, “He was regularly riding when he lived in Windsor.” They added that it gave him “a chance to get outside.” That context made the Norfolk ride feel practical, not ceremonial.

Still, the report said the return to the saddle was not expected to last long. Andrew, 66, had been living at Marsh Farm after leaving Royal Lodge in Windsor. The outlet also noted he was seen last month at a public equestrian event. He watched the Duchess of Edinburgh compete there, according to the report. For ex-Prince Andrew, the horseback riding marked a small routine returning under strict limits. It did not signal a wider public comeback.
