Cardi B’s Ex Reaches Last-Minute Deal to Avoid Jail in Assault Case

Offset, Cardi B‘s ex, reached a diversion agreement in his misdemeanour assault case. The rapper will avoid jail if he completes several court-ordered requirements. The agreement followed an alleged 2025 altercation involving a security guard.

Rapper Offset reached a plea deal requiring community service in the assault case

A Los Angeles judge approved Offset’s request for a diversion program, according to Rolling Stone. The agreement may lead to the charge being dismissed after he meets its conditions. However, the rapper must remain compliant throughout the entire diversion period.

Offset has to complete 50 hours of community service under this agreement. He must also participate in an anger management program during the diversion period. Additionally, he cannot commit any further legal violations for 12 months.

The judge reportedly extended the diversion period from six months to one year. Offset had initially requested the shorter period through his legal team. Prosecutors have opposed the request and argued that the case should proceed toward trial.

The case stemmed from an alleged confrontation at a Los Angeles marijuana dispensary. Prosecutors claimed Offset refused to provide identification during the March 2025 incident. They alleged that he pushed and a punched a security guard before leaving the scene.

According to court filings, the alleged confrontation happened at a MedMen dispensary near LAX airport. Prosecutors described the incident as a “crime of violence against the victim.” The security guard later filed a lawsuit against Offset over the alleged altercation.

Offset’s attorney described the incident as “embarrassing and regretful” in the diversion request. His legal team also argued that he had avoided further legal trouble since the incident. They emphasised his work and responsibilities toward himself and his children.

The diversion agreement also includes restrictions beyond community service and anger management. Offset must reportedly stay at least 100 yards away from the MedMen dispensary. He must also refrain from possessing firearms during the agreement.

Cardi B’s ex Offset did not attend the July 15 hearing. This agreement now allows him to resolve the misdemeanour charge.
