Donald Trump was recently roasted by the Daily Show host Jon Stewart for his jokes at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD). The WHCD was held in Washington on July 24 after it was rescheduled from its original date of April 25. The dinner was held with fewer attendees at the Waldorf Astoria hotel.
Jon Stewart roasts Donald Trump’s jokes at WHCD
The Daily Show host Jon Stewart recently called out Donald Trump in his recent monologue for the jokes the President made at WHCD.
Stewart referred to one moment when Trump stopped midway and changed the target of his joke. Stewart reviewed the clip of the moment and said, “Oh my God, don’t tell us you’re changing the target of your roast joke halfway through the joke!” He took a jab at Trump, calling out the writer of a joke about former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and commented, “Who the hell wrote that line? Um, it sounds like you? It sounds exactly like something you would say.”
Most of Trump’s speech at the dinner was jokes targeting journalists and his critics. He also made a comment on CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, who was present in the crowd, and mocked her for not smiling much. According to People Magazine, he joked, “She’s a young, attractive woman. She never smiles.” In his speech, Trump suggested Collins smile more and said, “I said, ‘Kaitlan, do you ever smile? Smile. You have a nice position, you’re at CNN fake news, you should be a happy person. So smile, Kaitlan, just smile.’”
Stewart then trolled Trump’s timing at making jokes and asserted that the President is unaware of what truly is funny. He added, “He has lived so long in a magical world of his own creation, curated for his comfort and positive reinforcement. He doesn’t even know what’s actually funny.”
