Both the White House and First Lady accounts posted a video set to dramatic music that cycles through race clips. The editing crops tightly around Donald Trump and Melania, cutting out nearly everyone else in the frame. Another clip shows Trump waving the green flag.
On X, the video includes Melania but slices off half of the Fox Sports logo, which led people to find the original broadcast, and it tells a different story. Natalie Harp stands in the background, smiling and clapping. A longer Fox Sports clip captures her for about three seconds.
The editing choices follow reports that Melania Trump may be frustrated with Natalie Harp’s frequent presence around the president. Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff recently made public remarks about Harp’s relationship with the president, prompting administration officials to defend Donald Trump. An insider told Semafor, “The First Lady doesn’t like these types of things.”
Moreover, the letters Harp wrote to Trump in 2023 recently revealed the depth of her devotion, as sourced by Daily Beast: “You are all that matters to me. I don’t want to ever let you down.” Staffers call her the “Human Printer” because she carries printouts of articles and social media posts that please the president. New York Times correspondent Maggie Haberman gave her another label: Trump’s “human binkie” for the calming effect she has on him.
The White House has not commented on the video editing. Harp remains a regular presence at Trump’s side despite the ongoing speculation about her role and her relationship with the first lady.
