The clip was examined by communication and body language experts Karen Donaldson and Traci Brown. Speaking to HuffPost, Donaldson noted that Melania appeared to maintain a closed posture while addressing Trump. She told HuffPost, “Her arms were across her chest as she spoke to Trump, which is a physical barrier that can often showcase defensiveness or disagreement.”
Donaldson also noted that Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, leaned towards him while speaking, but did not fully turn her upper body toward him. “She avoids fully engaging with him, showing a literal reluctance to face him. This can signal dismay with the situation or the person,” she said.
Brown, a body language expert and behavior analyst, identified similar movements when reviewing the clip. She focused on the position of Melania’s arms and a gesture she appeared to make during the conversation. “Her arms are crossed tight, that’s protecting herself. At one point she waves off whatever he’s saying,” Brown said.
The analyst also interpreted one of Melania’s sharper movements as potentially reflecting an emotional reaction to the exchange. “She literally snaps at him. Whenever you see sharp movements like this, there’s lots of anger. Her lips are turned down too, so there’s actual sadness here,” Brown noted.
The video itself does not show what was discussed between the couple or confirm their emotional state.
