According to TMZ, MGK sat in an overflow room at the downtown Los Angeles courthouse. Sources with direct knowledge told the outlet that he listened to the trial as it unfolded. His appearance came as a surprise to those at the courthouse. MGK previously joined Durk onstage during a 2023 Amazon Music Live performance in Los Angeles.
MGK played guitar while Durk performed his song “The Voice” during that appearance. The two rappers have remained connected through their music history. Durk has been imprisoned since his arrest in October 2024. Federal prosecutors accuse him of taking part in an alleged murder-for-hire plot.
Prosecutors say Durk wanted revenge after his friend King Von died in 2020. Von was killed after being shot to death outside an Atlanta hookah lounge. Prosecutors later linked members of Durk’s crew to a 2022 shooting in California. They say the group targeted rapper Quando Rondo in the incident.
Quando survived that shooting, but his cousin, Lul Pab, died. Durk has stated that he has done nothing wrong in the case. He continues to be held in federal custody while the trial continues. MGK’s unexpected courthouse visit now adds another connection to the high-profile proceedings.
