The Great British Bake Off legal battle escalated as Sky hit back at former Bake Off producer Letty Kavanagh. Sky accused Kavanagh of false accounting amid their nearly $1 million legal battle. The dispute follows Kavanagh’s claims of unpaid severance, wrongful dismissal, and sex discrimination by Sky.
Sky accused Letty Kavanagh of fraud, while she slammed the claims as a smear campaign
Letty Kavanagh sued Sky for wrongful dismissal and unpaid severance in separate courts. In response, Sky has accused Kavanagh of false accounting and misusing the company credit card. Kavanagh denied the allegations and called it a “smear campaign” against her.
The long-running dispute involves Letty Kavanagh, Love Productions, and its parent company Sky over The Great British Bake Off.
Kavanagh accused Sky of moving The Great British Bake Off, an unscripted show in the U.K., to Channel 4. She also accused the company of false financial reporting and sex discrimination, claiming that Sky owes her £755,752 ($1 million).
Sky has now served Kavanagh with its defense in the High Court. The broadcaster alleged that the director is not eligible for a $1 million severance payment because she breached her contract by “deliberately” changing Love Productions’ accounts and claiming “inappropriate” personal expenses. The broadcaster alleged that the production cost increased on Kavanagh’s instructions, which reduced company profits.
Kavanagh was questioned by Love and Sky’s finance team about increased costs, and the accounts were later corrected while she was on leave in November 2025. She was dismissed from her role in November.
According to Deadline, a source close to Kavanagh said, “Sky are fully aware that the ‘double counting’ they are referring to was as a result of the chaos imposed by Sky from 2023 of improperly recouping corporate overheads in advance of filming whilst understating legitimate overheads.”
Love Productions’ defense filing revealed that Kavanagh earned £6 million and bonuses in addition to her salary after Sky’s takeover of Love in 2014.
