Millennials have had it hard. Recessions, pandemics, natural disasters, and skyrocketing home prices are just a few of the challenges faced by Millennials. But The Valley cast is showing exactly why this generation is resilient. The group isn’t about to let a bunch of chaos get them down and seem to be living by the best Boy Meets World quote ever muttered; “Life’s hard. Get a helmet.”
Kristen Doute built her perfect life
When viewers first met Kristen Doute, it was clear that even though she was in the popular group, she was the Gretchen Weiners. Her two close friends didn’t exactly love her, and somehow drama just seemed to follow Kristen wherever she went. She has come a long way since she was first fired from Vanderpump Rules. The former server was let go for her part in a racially insensitive prank revolving around Faith Stowers. For years after her axing, Kristen stayed in the shadows and educated herself about white privilege. So when the opportunity to take part in the spin-off popped up, Kristen knew she couldn’t waste time and needed to snag it. What was great about Kristen is that even though many counted her as down and out, she never once stopped to agree with them.
Now, Kristen is engaged to Luke Broderick and expecting her first baby. For years she had one crappy boyfriend after another, the highlights being Tom Sandoval and James Kennedy. And honestly, what Millennial hasn’t been in a toxic relationship during the early 2000s? Kristen has now built her perfect life. It’s kind of crazy to see, actually. Kristen is embracing filming her hot mess of a life, but now she’s thriving and having the last laugh.
Nia and Danny Booko show true test of marriage
Unlike our parents, Millennials’ approach to love is a bit out of the box. This generation’s path to relationships prioritizes individuality, authenticity, and emotional connection. Many Millennials are putting off marriage and children due to the cost of raising a child and not being able to buy a home. Frankly, we set our own trends like moving in together before marriage, marrying later in life, signing prenups, and going to counseling. So it isn’t a surprise to see Danny Booko and Nia Booko as a true representation of what it means to be a Millennial marriage.
The TV pair has been perceived as the perfect couple, but they have also been faced with scrutiny, with some questioning the authenticity of their seemingly flawless image. However, instead of turning on one another, they choose to protect. Nia and Danny don’t allow the negativity to dictate their reactions, which helps them maintain a strong relationship. The duo has also decided to have children and has not hesitated to share how hard that journey has been. Both have shared that they attend therapy to improve their communication and strive for a good work-life balance. This is a new normal for many around this age, and it’s nice to see neither has checked out.
Brittany Cartwright is moving on from Jax Taylor
Hallelujah! Brittany Cartwright is making moves that are right for her and her son. One of the greatest traits about being a Millennial is our ability to feel empowered. As a group, we are prioritizing values more than ever, which includes a healthy environment. As a generation, we are also looking to challenge authority and question traditional structures that possibly have hindered us in the past. And our Kentucky muffin falls right into this category now that she has decided to leave Jax Taylor in the dust. For years, she was stuck in a toxic relationship where she had lost control.
But now, Brittany is making up for lost time. Jax has moved out, she filed for divorce, and took the dog. No longer is Jax in control of her daily movements or allegedly spying on her with their at-home security systems. It’s nice to see B step up into her own without the fear of repercussion or feeling the need to protect everyone around her. Life hasn’t been easy for the cast of The Valley and their viewers. But at least they are showing the fans that if you stick with it, there could and should be a brighter outcome.
The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
