During his attendance at the Tony Awards 2025 on Sunday, the actor expressed how she was the “happiest” about her husband going back to his grey hair era. The first-time nominee had previously dyed his hair black for his role in Broadway’s “Good Night, and Good Luck.” Moreover, the Hollywood veteran’s confession, accompanied by the couple’s joint appearance at the event, shut down ongoing divorce rumors.

The couple made their presence at the show known with their stunning joint red carpet appearance amid divorce rumors. To put the lid down on it once and for all, the Oscar-winning actor shared what his wife thought of him going back to his natural grey hair.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Clooney revealed, “My wife [Amal] was the happiest person when I came home after the play today and I’d cut all the hair off” to return to his original and quite popular grey hair. He continued, “Because, you know, I looked like a drug dealer with that bad black dye job.” The actor chose to dye his hair black to bring his character, broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow, in Broadway’s “Good Night, and Good Luck” to life.
Clooney co-wrote and stars in both the original 2005 film and its recent stage adaptation. The Broadway production at NYC’s Winter Garden Theatre opened with a star-studded premiere on March 12. Meanwhile, at the 2025 Tony Awards, the actor was nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Play) category. Although he couldn’t take home the win, he marked a memorable moment with his wife at the event.
After the prominent human rights attorney missed her husband’s Broadway debut, rumors began to circulate that all is not well between the power couple. A source alleged the couple’s “tense” relationship while stating that they are planning to move “toward a $500 million divorce.” As of now, the couple hasn’t addressed the speculation.
