He’s the leader of the free world, but he still acts like a reality star. President Donald Trump is bashing his former National Security Advisor, John Bolton, following the shocking news that FBI teams raided his home.
On Friday, August 22, the FBI conducted a court-ordered search of John’s home. There’s an ongoing investigation into whether he disclosed classified information in his 2020 book, The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir. It’s all very peculiar, and of course, Trump’s comments on the situation are even stranger.
President Trump denies being briefed about the FBI raid on John Bolton’s home
Moments after the news broke of the FBI raid, reporters from CNN asked Trump about the situation. According to the President, who was wearing a hat that said, “Trump Was Right About Everything,” he knew nothing about the raid until this morning. You can decide for yourself whether or not to believe that.
“I didn’t know about it,” Trump said. “I saw it on television this morning. I’m not a fan of John Bolton. He’s a real sort of a low life.”
The “low life” spent 17 months as a senior aide to Trump during his first term. After leaving the White House, he became an outspoken critic of the president. His 2020 book detailed Trump’s questionable approach to foreign policy, which put a major target on his back from the MAGA world.
When Trump returned to office this year, he revoked John’s security clearance and Secret Service protection. It’s no secret that he doesn’t like the guy, and although it seems like political retribution, Trump maintained that he didn’t know of the FBI’s raid.
“He’s not a smart guy. But he could be a very unpatriotic guy,’ Trump told reporters today. “We’re going to find out. I know nothing about it. I just saw it this morning they did a raid.”
