Most celebs rush to share their engagements with the world. Especially when they have a mountain of a ring. But it seems Taylor and Travis chose to keep theirs a secret. And looking at the enormous amount of attention the news has garnered, we can’t say we blame them. It’s not clear exactly when the proposal took place, but a source told Page Six it happened “a couple of weeks ago”.
The source also revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs sportsman told his family about his plans weeks prior. They are said to be “thrilled” to have Taylor join the family.
Speaking to News 5, Travis’ dad Ed said: “He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week to … make it a big special event.
“And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event.” We imagine it’s probably a good thing Travis didn’t take his dad’s advice.
Taylor and Travis, both 35, shared the happy news in a joint Instagram post. The post was set to the musicians song “So High School,” which she has said was written about her new fiancé. The pair have been dating since mid-2023. The NFL star tried his luck by saying on his “New Heights” podcast that he wanted to meet Swift and give her his number. Clearly, the grand gesture worked.
