The rumor mill has been in overdrive since news broke of Nina and Shaun’s split. One persistent hypothesis was that cheating had been involved. But these whispers were shut down by an insider last week.
Now sources say that gossip about the pair ended their engagement due to disputes over starting a family also holds no truth. An insider told US Weekly: “They both wanted a family. It wasn’t that one wanted it more than the other.”
A separate source told the publication that Nina “couldn’t wait to be married and to start a family with Shaun.”
News that the couple had gone their separate ways first hit on September 11. They had been together for more than five years, with pro snowboarder Shaun popping the question in October 2024. Nina commemorated the proposal on Instagram with a series of snaps taken in New York City. She captioned the post: “RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé ?”
Nina posted to her Instagram for the first time since the split on Thursday. The Vampire Diaries actress added a photo of her cuddling a pair of young children, presumably relatives, to her stories.
Neither Shaun or Nina have commented on the split as yet. Whatever the reason behind it, it apparently came rather abruptly. There were reports that the pair were still in the process of planning their wedding until only recently.
