Blake Lively Shares Rare ‘Gossip Girl’ Photos, Says Show Was Her Teacher

18 years after “Gossip Girl” first premiered, Blake Lively shared a carousel of photos from the world that turned her into a popular name. On Instagram, Lively shared various rare behind‑the‑scenes photos from the six seasons she spent as Serena van der Woodsen, calling the show much more than just a job. For the actor, it was like receiving an education at a university.

Blake Lively gives an unfiltered look at what life was like during ‘Gossip Girl’

With the rare “Gossip Girl” throwback photos, Blake Lively wrote, “The summer gossip girl turned 18.” She gushed, “This show was my college. It was my education, my social life, my hardwork, my late nights and early mornings, my teacher. New York City and Silvercup Studios (& sometimes Paris) was my campus for SIX years.” The caption concluded on a nostalgic note: “So many memories. What. A. Decade. What a University.”

The photos capture Lively and her co-stars at work and while having fun. Among the throwbacks, Lively included a shot of herself dressed as Marilyn Monroe while Leighton Meester stood beside her, channeling Audrey Hepburn. In another photograph, Lively and Penn Badgley stand in cotillion gowns and tuxedos from the 2007 “Hi, Society” episode, highlighting the moment when Serena and Dan’s romance was still in its earliest stages.

Additionally, there are shots of Lively pulling faces alongside Ed Westwick, hugging Meester, squeezing into group shots, and even bouncing around on an inflatable slide with Chace Crawford. The pictures show the unfiltered reality of a cast that spent their early twenties together on and off set. Lively also made sure to feature her late co-star Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Georgina Sparks and passed away earlier this year at 39.

Eighteen years on, the “Gossip Girl” photos remind both Blake Lively and the fans why the show still lingers. It is not just about the glossy drama, but it also remains alive for the friendships and the shared bond behind it all.
