Julia Fox Defends Taylor Swift Amid NFL Fans Backlash Over Travis Kelce’s Losses

Julia Fox has slammed NFL fans who blamed Taylor Swift for Travis Kelce‘s losses in NFL games. Swift has been a prominent presence in NFL games played by Kelce ever since the two began dating in 2023. While the music superstar has been applauded for her support of Kelce, she has also faced criticism when things haven’t gone well for the latter.

Julia Fox recently sat down for an interview, promoting her latest film, HIM. During the discussion, the interviewer pointed out how girlfriends and wives of high-profile sports players garnered flak if the players underperformed or suffered losses in games — even if they had nothing to do with it.

“I know, like if a guy loses a game, it’s like a girl’s fault,” the Uncut Gems actress told Pedestrian TV. “It’s like his girlfriend’s fault, or like it’s just like crazy and all the superstitions and all the irrational a** s**t that these men believe, that ultimately leads to a woman being blamed.”

The Night Always Comes star recalled how Travis Kelce once lost a game, which led to people claiming it was Taylor Swift’s fault. “It was just like what? Like that’s crazy,” she added. “But you know, blame women. They love to do that.” Fox quipped, “I didn’t know we were so powerful. So you’re admitting that we’re powerful?”

Also in the interview, Fox discussed how women in relationships with sports players dealt with a lot of public scrutiny. “Eventually, you kind of do find yourself, you know, reading the gossip or whatever, the tabloids. It kinda piques your curiosity,” she added.

Fox noted that her role in HIM — where she plays the wife of an aging quarterback — was an opportunity to get a taste of what women in relationships with sports players experienced. “The stakes are so high and the pressure is so much,” she further stated.

“It just seems like such an intense world and I’m just… I wanted a little peek inside,” she continued. “And I got a little taste and it’s definitely not for me.” She concluded by stating she had developed a “newfound respect” for women in relationships with sports players.
