Dancing with the Stars Season 34 has taken an unexpected turn after Week 3. While many viewers expected either Andy Richter or Hilaria Baldwin to get eliminated third, both ended up safe. In a shocking announcement, it was revealed that Lauren Jauregui would be the third star sent home. This came as a shock to everyone, even to the other pros in this week’s bottom three.
While Season 34 has been extremely competitive, it’s the general consensus among DWTS fans on social media that Lauren was done dirty. Lauren didn’t deserve to get sent home so early, for more than one reason. She deserved to go far in the competition, but instead, she was truly robbed.
Lauren Jauregui was underscored during her Week 3 Cha-cha-cha

During Week 3, Lauren and her partner, Brandon Armstrong were tied at the bottom of the leaderboard. The pair were the second to dance, and received straight 6’s from the judges. While the dance wasn’t perfect, it was comparable to the majority of dances that received 7’s later on in the night. Since the theme of the night was TikTok, Lauren and Brandon incorporated several TikTok moves into the dance. However, there were still noticeable cha-cha-cha moves as well.
Lauren received the same score as Andy, who moved much less during his routine. While judges typically are lenient with older contestants, it’s incredibly unfair that he and Lauren received the same score. Scoring is half of what sends contestants to the next week, with the other half being votes. This season, the judges have also tended to score the first performances of the night lower than the later ones. If Lauren had received 7’s instead of 6’s, it’s possible that she would still be in the competition.
Lauren was at the middle/top of the Dancing with the Stars leaderboard during Weeks 1 and 2

For the first two weeks of DWTS Season 34, Lauren scored in the middle/top of the leaderboard. During Week 1, she received a 13 out of 20, while many of her fellow competitors received 12’s and below. Similarly, during Week 2, she received a 21 out of 30, placing her in the high middle of the pack.
Lauren has been putting in a lot of work, which showed during her early performances. Week 3 was her first time doing a Latin-style dance, and the judges criticized her for not performing fiercely enough. However, the judges were lenient on other contestants who performed similar Latin-style routines during Weeks 1 and 2.
It’s frustrating that Lauren was scored so low based on such a minor criticism. The TikTok aspect of the dance also seemed to lower the score, despite that being the theme of the night. Many of the other dances also featured the same amount of TikTok moves, but weren’t as underscored. The judges should score each contestant on the same criteria, but this season, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Some stars are being scored more leniently than others, which is somewhat unfair.
Lauren is more popular and has danced better than several stars still in the competition

After Lauren’s elimination, online fans began to question how Lauren was voted out over some of her competition. A lot of frustration has been toward Andy, who has managed to stay in the competition by receiving votes. While Andy is a likable guy, his dancing just isn’t up to par. Some viewers expressed that there should be a Judges Save to give contestants in Lauren’s position another chance.
Another contestant viewers are surprised to see stick around is Hilaria. While she has scored well, Hilaria is a controversial contestant. It isn’t clear where she’s getting the votes to stay, as her fan base isn’t huge from what viewers can see. Lauren, on the other hand, has over twelve million Instagram followers and a huge following. It’s unclear what exactly went wrong last night, but without a doubt, Lauren was robbed.
Dancing with the Stars is available to stream on Disney +.
