Kate Middleton’s latest royal engagement has her kids reeking of jealousy.
The Princess of Wales recently toured the RAF Coningsby, a Royal Air Force station in the U.K. It was her first visit to the station since being appointed as its Royal Honorary Air Commodore by King Charles.
Kate met with the Quick Reaction Alert Personnel and inspected a Typhoon aircraft, among other tasks. Her children, George, Charlotte and Louis, were absent during the visit to their dismay.

The Royal Air Force is near and dear to the hearts of Prince William and his wife, and that passion for planes seems to have trickled down to their kids.
Hello! magazine reported that their children, the youngest in particular, get very wide-eyed around airplanes.
“My children were very sad. The boys, particularly,” said Kate about missing out on the visit. Louis is especially enamored with the idea of flying and dreams of becoming a pilot one day.
Being in the royal family could offer him and his older siblings advantages to make those dreams a reality. Even so, Kate says she’ll make sure to emphasize to Louis the importance of hard work to achieve his goal. “I’m going to tell them it takes eight years and a lot of hard work,” said Kate.
William previously trained and served in the Royal Air Force before taking on his royal duties full-time in 2017. Meanwhile, his wife’s late grandfather, Captain Peter Middleton, was an RAF pilot. He even reportedly served as Prince Philip’s co-pilot during a South American tour in 1962.
The royal children’s love of airplanes may have come from a special even the family attended two years ago. William and Kate, along with the kids, had a day out at the Royal International Air Tattoo in Gloucestershire in 2023. It’s the largest military airshow in the world, featuring over 25 flying displays each day of the event. It’s one of the many unique experiences the children have had, including a visit to the set of the new Harry Potter TV series last week.
