It’s been a busy week for King Charles and Queen Camilla. On Wednesday the pair stopped by their local village hall in Scotland to enjoy a bit of music and festivities. On Thursday, they headed back to the venue to help mark an important milestone in its history.
King Charles celebrates 150th anniversary of historic landmark

Charles and Camila have been out and about in Scotland this week. They participated in two events to mark the 150th anniversary of the Victoria and Albert Halls – a community center located just a few miles from the royal Balmoral estate.
The events were probably a welcome distraction from the home renovations that are reportedly irritating Charles “beyond belief”.
After enjoying some music performances with the locals on Wednesday, the pair returned on Thursday. Their visit featured a variety of activities any grandparent would enjoy – meeting local school pupils, a fiddle performance, and plenty of local history.
They also chatted with groups who regularly use the historical building. They included reps from the Scottish Women’s Institute, a Lego group, and the Ballater Local History Group. The latter showed the monarchs a silver trowel that was used to lay the venue’s foundations in 1874.
Charles and Camilla have been mainly based at the royal residence in Scotland since the summer. The King has been back and forth to London, though, for his cancer treatment and royal duties. He also reportedly had a clandestine meeting with a disgraced former aide in Windsor recently.
The couple’s most recent outing came amid the loss of their close friend, Dame Jilly Cooper. The author died on October 5 following a fall. Camilla honored her pal’s memory in a statement. She wrote: “I was saddened to learn of Dame Jilly’s death last night … In person she was a wonderfully witty and compassionate friend to me and so many.”
