R&B singer Brandy responded via an Instagram post after concerned fans questioned why she left her October 18 show mid performance. She and fellow singer Monica were in the middle of their The Boy Is Mine Tour, when Brandy abruptly left the stage mid-concert.

Fans posted videos on social media that showed Brandy leaving the stage suddenly. As she departed the stage, she said, “Give me one second, y’all. I gotta get my …”
The Grammy winner didn’t return to the stage. No explanation was given to the crowd at that time about her sudden departure.
The singer explained what happened on an October 19 Instagram post, writing, “Thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and — most importantly — your prayers. I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint. Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance.”
The singer, songwriter, dancer, model and actor continued, “I still made the decision to try and return and give it my all despite not feeling okay. With having to make some adjustments and the show being very technical, unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production. I really appreciate everyone’s best efforts.”
The abbreviated performance took place at Chicago’s United Center during Brandy’s “The Boy Is Mine” duet with Monica.
Her Instagram post expressed that she was grateful to Monica for “stepping up with such grace and professionalism, and to the entire crew for their care and support.” Brandy received medical care following her departure.
The Grammy winner added, “Your understanding, patience, and unwavering belief mean the world to me. I look forward to returning to the stage — stronger and more grateful than ever — alongside my girl, Monica, tonight in Indianapolis.”
The R&B duo announced their co-headlining tour in June of this year. Their last collaboration was in 1998.
Brandy and Monica will continue their The Boy Is Mine Tour at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on October 24.
