It’s almost anticlimactic how the Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively lawsuits are playing out. Now, Justin appears to have accepted his fate in this legal war. He missed the deadline to appeal the judge’s ruling that dismissed his lawsuit, so it looks like he’s ready to stop here. Blake, however, isn’t quite done. She’s demanding legal fees.
Justin Baldoni’s claims against Blake Lively have been thrown out of court
According to documents from TMZ, the final judgment in the case Justin filed against Blake, Ryan Reynolds, and the New York Times has been entered. All of Justin’s claims against Blake, Ryan, and the NYT have been officially thrown out of court.
This was the original ruling in June. At the time, it seemed that Justin and his legal team would be appealing the decision, which they found “not fair and not right.” However, the deadline came and went without Justin’s side putting up a fight. We’ll have to see if they will pursue other legal options as Bryan Freedman said earlier.
Blake’s claims against Justin are still intact. She now allegedly wants him to pay her attorney’s fees for defending against his claims. It just keeps going around and around.
Justin and his Wayfarer Studios production company were originally suing Blake and Ryan for $400 million and the NYT for $250 million. This was for defamation in their coverage of the drama on the It Ends with Us movie set.
While many following the case were shocked at the dismissal, the judge based his opinion on the fact that Blake included her allegations against Justin in a civil rights complaint and could not be held liable. The same went for NYT and Ryan, who relied on the complaint for their story and additional allegations.
No word yet from Justin, Blake, or their lawyers. Is this how it’s going to end? After all the speculation about famous friends, suspicious texts, and so much more, it seems like the case is fizzling out instead of going out with a bang.
