Katy Perry Reportedly Needed ‘Constant Attention’ From Her Ex

Katy Perry’s latest single may have offered fans an emotional glimpse into her breakup with Orlando Bloom, but sources close to the actor are painting a more complicated picture. As Perry reclaims her voice through her new track “Bandaids,” insiders claim the relationship struggled under the weight of differing expectations and Perry’s alleged need for reassurance.

The split between Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, which ended their engagement earlier this year, has taken a public turn following the release of Perry’s heartbreak ballad “Bandaids.” While the “Teenage Dream” singer has used the song to express regret and vulnerability, sources close to Bloom reportedly feel she’s leaving out key details about their time together.

According to entertainment columnist Rob Shuter, friends of Bloom describe Perry as “needy” and “manipulative.” They allege that the singer demanded near-constant attention from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star. “She’s painting him as cold, but she needed nonstop attention,” one source told Shuter, adding that Bloom “bent over backwards” to meet her emotional needs.

Meanwhile, another insider claimed that Perry frequently sought reassurance through “texts, calls, and love notes.” They further suggested that she often took Bloom’s busy schedule, including his acting commitments and parenting responsibilities, as a personal slight.

The claims surfaced just days after Perry released her latest single “Bandaids.” In both the lyrics and the music video, the singer captures the pain of emotional neglect, singing, “It’s not what you did, it’s what you didn’t. You were there but you weren’t.”

Sources close to Bloom, however, reportedly view the song differently. One friend told Shuter that the track “hit a nerve.” They continued, “He protected her image. Now she’s using heartbreak as PR. Orlando’s done being her muse.”

Despite the speculation, Perry’s message to fans remains focused on self-growth and resilience. In a recent Instagram post, she reflected on her past as “a rollercoaster” and emphasized that every chapter, even heartbreak, has value.

Whether “Bandaids” is an artistic release or a thinly veiled confession, it’s clear that Perry has once again turned personal pain into pop power, and the world is listening.
