Jon Gosselin’s Lawsuit: TLC Violated Child Labor Laws

jon-gosselin-290

We reported yesterday of Jon Gosselin’s plans to countersue TLC.  Details of that lawsuit have now been uncovered.

According to RadarOnline, Jon’s lawyers have layed out some startling accusations against the TLC network.  Jon reveals that he and Kate made just $2000 per episode back when their show began, he also accuses TLC of violating child labor laws, and owing him  $175,000.

His lawyers argue that TLC violated Pennsylvania child labor laws by failing to obtain proper permits allowing their eight children to be filmed for Jon and Kate Plus 8. Though he and Kate were obligated by contract to obtain those permits themselves (versus the network), his attorneys are adamant that this was TLC’s attempt to “circumvent the laws.”

Jon’s lawyers also argue that the restrictions of TLC’s contract is preventing him from earning money as a celebrity. “Mr. Gosselin will be unable to earn a living as a television personality, and therefore be precluded from supporting his eight children,” the papers claim.

Other revelations in the court documents are that Jon & Kate negotiated their first TV contract back in 2005 without the presence of a lawyer or manager, and that TLC took “advantage of Mr. Gosselin’s inexperience and lack of sophistication.”  According to the papers, the family earned $2000 per episode back in 2005, compared to the reported $75,000 per-episode rate in 2009.

His lawyers also argue that TLC’s restrictions were too strict, to the point that Jon wasn’t allowed to take photographs at home, preventing him from recording “his own family moments and hallmark events in his family’s life.”

Jon is countersuing TLC for $5 million.

  1. are you serious with this? how about you try actually being a decent father instead of some attention whore. honestly how can he not know that he is viewed as the biggest most pathetic loser in america? its so sad that he thinks a celebrity personality is in his future. i hope the kids well and lots of therapy because of this creep

  2. One can only imagine the laughter emanating from the prestigious Williams & Connolly law firm upon reading this sensational drama-permeated piece of work coming from the lower depths of Heller’s mind. As pointed out, Jon’s entire defense is “I didn’t do it. I didn’t know what I was doing. They made me do it.”

Also found in Heller’s court papers is the claim that the public is all for Jon. Wording like, “TLC’s hands are so dirty they should be amputated,” reveals the caliber of work from Jon’s law team that can be expected in the court room. As for the claims that TLC broke child labor laws, the state would look remiss if it just now found that to be the case. The claim is lame.

Heller’s courtroom masterpiece is of full of the drama and chaos that has come to symbolize Jon’s life.

Jon is essentially saying that TLC took advantage of his stupidity. In the end, it’s Jon lawyer, Heller, who is taking the most advantage of his barely functioning brain. Remember, Jon hired a lawyer who was found guilty of violating the rights of 12 individual clients, found guilty of 18 violations, and was suspended from practicing law for five years.

To top it off, Jon’s former best bud, Michael Lohan, claims that Jon has been paid cash for some of his public appearances, thus putting the IRS on Jon’s tucked tail. Octboy has so much to look forward to now due to his unmitigated greed.

  3. Compelling narrative Fauleigh. I don’t think Jon has a leg to stand on either.

  4. To Jon and his incompetent lawyer:

If you participated in and allowed the children to be filmed, knowing that TLC was violating child labor laws, by consortium you are equally guilty. You have “unclean hands” in this matter and cannot prevail in court.

    DUH.

Did you even bother to check your attorney’s credentials?

  5. oh wow!! He wasnt saying this when we has going to the back with the money! Interesting to say the least

Why is TLC bringing a lawsuit with the potential to harm the children who made them all so much money? It’s disgusting!
