The Jersey Shore cast might be a lot of things but when it comes to their money, the cast is proving to be much smarter than most would give them credit for.
TMZ is reporting that the entire cast has rejected an offer from MTV to do a second season. Sources connected with the negotiation say MTV offered Snooki, Pauly D, “The Situation” and the others each a $10,000 signing bonus and promised to pay them $5,000 per episode to do a season two of the hit show.
The cast however rejected the offer and made it clear that they were negotiating “Friends” style … meaning everyone would get the same amount and it had to be a lot higher than MTV’s offer.
The sources reveal MTV came back and doubled the offer to $10,000 an episode. So far, the cast has yet to respond to the new offer.
Some of the cast members of The Hills are getting paid a whooping $100,000 per episode, which should give the Jersey Shore cast some leverage considering their ratings doubles that of the Hills. They averaged over 4.8 million viewers just last week.
An MTV spokesperson would not comment on the negotiations and MTV has yet to officially comment on a season two. TMZ also reports MTV has received thousands of tapes from wanna be Guidos and Guidettes wanting to be on the show.
As much as I like this cast, I’m not sure having them all back for a 2nd season would be a good idea. They have become too famous and I’m guessing the show will become too fake and scripted for a season 2, The Hills anyone? I think it would be better to do a Real World format, and bring back an entirely new cast for a 2nd season.
UPDATE - TMZ is also reporting that MTV has given the cast until the end of Monday (today) to accept the offer, or they will be replaced. This is allegedly a ploy by MTV to try to divide and conquer the cast. Apparently, the cast members who accept the offer will be on the 2nd season, and the ones who don’t will be replaced. We will be sure to keep you updated on this.
TELL US – SHOULD MTV BRING BACK THIS CAST FOR A 2ND SEASON OR CAST SOME NEW PEOPLE?
Angelina sux! Regardless of what they do with the 2nd season, I truly hope that she doesn’t come back. What an ugly girl, inside & out.
Puleeeze – MTV, there must be other skanky whores and idiot, steroid-overdosed boys who would agree to beat the crap out of people for no reason, constantly drink themselves into a stupor, spend a few nights in jail, act like jackasses, embarrass their families, and sleep with everything that walks in order to make a couple of grand so they don’t have to get real jobs. Come on!
Cast is pretty expendable (especially J-woww, Vinnie, Angelina and Sammi who were, for the most part, dull as dishwater) so who cares if they sign on? And what is Angelina, who left after a couple eps. still doing publicity junkets?! I’m pretty sure MTV can find 8 fame-whore guidos to easily entertain us – and that would probably be best because I can’t see how a second season with this crop replicates the sheer awesomeness that was the past season.
Please MTV if you insist on renewing this joke of a show that you call Jersey Shore get a totally new cast !! I KNOW you can find 10 other people that would want to make asses outta them selves just to say that they have been on a tv show !!

Snookie was on the Wendy Williams Show on Friday, and she said if MTV gets a new cast its gonna be fake because the new cast is going to try to outdo the old.
Ugh, I just hope snookie will get rid of that hump on her head, she looks like a freak…..someone pleaaaase get the child a stylist.

i say, keep the situation, pauly, snooki and vinny. replace the rest. i love the show! them 3 made it worth watching. sammi was the most annoying of all. i liked ronnie untill he got with sammi, then he became as boring as her.
