The finale of The Ultimate Catch ended last night with Chad Ochocinco throwing us for a loop by actually picking one of the finalists, contrary to the rumors that he didn’t pick anyone.
The lucky Mrs. Ochocinco ended up being Rubi Pazmino, which came as no surprise considering she was his #1 pick from the start.
The shocker however is the fact that Chad and Rubi are still together! In a new interview with VH1, Rubi discusses how she and Chad are making things work, talks about her singing career, and also addresses the rumors that Chad is dating Basketball Wives‘ Evelyn Lozada.
Excerpts from Rubi’s interview below -
What has it been like since the show? Is this, in fact, for real? Have you been pursuing something with Chad?
Yes. We’ve definitely been talking. We talk all the time, everyday. And we definitely have an amazing connection. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say, but we do get to see each other and it’s been way more intimate and way more real since the show because you don’t have all these other women getting in the way. You get to have real conversations. There’s no stress, no time limits. There’s a lot of a possibility.
What do you make of the rumor that he’s dating Basketball Wives‘ Evelyn?
Even while we were on the show a lot of girls were saying he was with her. There have always been rumors. It wasn’t a huge shock to me when I heard that it was out there in the media. But just like with anybody, when you hear a rumor you just ask like, “Hey what’s going on?” I asked him about it. He said Evelyn’s a friend of his, they didn’t have anything and they’re friends. And that’s all. If someone tells you something, you just have to believe them. I’m not gonna sit there and ask him every two seconds. I asked him once and he answered it and that’s enough.
Was your career as a singer ever a consideration for signing up for the show?
You always think about your career, wondering if a given situation is gonna be a negative or a positive. I wondered, “Hey is this gonna be something that’s bad for what I do?” Obviously that’s a no. I’d be a super lazy person not to take advantage of the things I’m reaping now because of the show. It’d be dumb. And what I do of course depends on fan base and popularity and if this helps it, great. And Chad absolutely has no problem with it.
Would you go as far as to call it love?
I think love is a super strong word. Do we have the material and the hard work to make it to love? Yes. I think we definitely have the material to get there. But should we say love love love as of right now? I don’t know. It’s a love. Like I luv him, like L-U-V. He probably feels the same way about me. But we definitely have the potential to be able to get there.
Rubi might be in for some bumps in this relationship as one of the show’s contestants, Heather, gave an interview to Bossip, during which she claimed Chad was still trying to hook up with her after eliminating her on the show. Heather also alleged Chad was still calling his former Dancing With The Stars partner Cheryl Burke, and sending her gifts while filming the show.

I didn’t get the impression from that interview that they are together. She said they talk a lot, see each other and there is possibility there… that just sounds like casual dating to me. She didn’t use the words couple, relationship, together, boyfriend or girlfriend, so I doubt there is a future there. He just didn’t seem like he wanted a monogamous relationship to me. He seems like a player. Not to mention it was a super lackluster finale in which neither of them seemed excited at all about her being his “ultimate catch.”

I had the finale recorded and just watched it. I was a bit disappointed in Chad. Not necessarily because of who he chose but because of the reason he didn’t choose Brittney. He basically said he didn’t think it would work because of the potential drama and extra baggage that she might bring to the table with her son and ex husband. Are you freaking kidding me?! These are words coming from a man that also has children of his own. How hypocritical is that crap?!?!?!
Chad definitely lost some respect points. Another thing….if you can’t stay committed long enough to do a reality TV show and not think about getting into another womans panties, how the hell do you expect to stay committed to one woman for life?
Chad is a joke. He is not serious about making a love connection at all. He chose Rubi because he knew she was the one most likely to fall for his lies and he could easily pull the wool over her eyes. How could he have used the excuse that Brittany had too much baggage for them to have a good relationship. He as four children! He has 2 baby mommas! Now that’s drama! Brittany is too smart for him. She had the most potential for moving on without him and this is why she wasn’t chosen. Rubi, though attractive, lacks mental stamina. This is as nice as I could put it. Chad was only looking for someone else he could bed without being completely committed to them. I don’t know what the big deal is about him anyway. He doesn’t speak well, he isn’t attractive and he’s very shallow and pretentious. They’d all be better off without him. As for the gifts, he seemingly loves lavashing women with them. So, since he has the income to do it~it’s really not a big deal. He sends them all gifts. I guess it makes him feel good or something. He has underlying issues.

on abc and nbc don’t have any black women on them so why whould you do the same. if you was a regular guy walking down the street in the hood they would not turn your way. but after all money talks.
I was upset because to me he chose the wrong person. He says he is ready for a relationship I hope he really is because if not he should have sent both girls home. A lot of these shows come on TV and over half of these couples break up. If u are not ready do not do the show and if u are try to make it work. Seems like a lot of the couples let the media say if they will stay together or break up.
I respect that this is just a scripted reality tv show just like all shows on TV are, built for shock factor and ratings, but the real losers are the people who actually watch these horrible shows and think that they are real or relevant to anything. If show was successful you can bet that he will return for another season or force the creaters to sign another popular athlete to perpetuate nonsense drama.

I hate that he picked the safe route. Brittany was the right pick and he was scared. She was fun, attractive, sexy, interesting…everything he was looking for – but was scared that it wouldn’t be a smooth sailing with the ex or her son. that’s a coward if you care about Her!!!! iNSTEAD you pick someone else that you aren’t that into except for the physical aspect of —it only goes so far. Chad you’ll get it……you need the whole package and I think Britanny had it for you. This is my first posting of an online forum so you see how passionate I am about his decision was wrong!!!!

What the hell, He was grimey as hell to pick Rubi, yeah she was pretty, but what if she would get pregnant by him on accident or gets in an accident, what if her physical attraction fails, oh that’s right $38,000,000 will buy him another girl, maybe even Rubi a new body if she does start to fall apart! It is so funny to me that no one dates in its own race anymore. You may find a couple of celebrities” black men” that marry into they own race. Now was it really a suprise that Ochoinco picked Rubi, no, after all she was his number one. Why he kept Tiffany and Jasmine around beats the hell out of me, I knew he was not going to pick either one of them, and the fact that he let Brittany go because of her ex and son was bull s**t, he has kids and baby mamas, like I said bull s**t. Anyone who was paying attention knew that he would pick Rubi to begin with. I mean come on his name is Ochocinco, spanish. I aint gay but she was the hottest latin chic on there. None of the other hispanic chics had anything to bring to the table either so it had to be her. i think he did a good job as far as tiphani and brittany being in the final three. they really felt for him. i wish they had seen thru the bs to know that this reality show bs was just that a bunch of bull. I dont think that he is giving Rubi the time of day though. I think he is looking for a woman that he can date in public nothing serious unless it gets there sooner or later. He wants someone that is gonna make him look better cuz all he has is his beautiful smile. i give him that.
