Survivor: Game Changers Episode 11 Preview: ‘Reinventing How This Game Is Played’

Last week’s episode of Survivor was heavy on “reshuffling” metaphors, but this week takes it a step further, with an episode entitled “Reinventing How This Game Is Played.” There are now just 10 players left in the game as we enter the final month of Survivor: Game Changers…and there appears to be a lot more game to be played.

Reinventing How This Game Is Played

Debbie was just blindsided last week in a move by Sarah that is sure to lead to some fall-out. She basically chose to side with Cirie, Andrea, Michaela, Aubry and Zeke, turning her back on Brad, Sierra, Troyzan and Tai. As I discussed on the Podcast, the game had led Sarah to this cross-roads and we’ll have to see if it ends up being the wrong choice or the correct one for her game. I tend to think that she made the wrong choice and might have been better off eliminating big threats like Andrea (and Cirie!!!) and trying to make Final Six…and if you’re going to flip, why take out Deb? Sarah did find a “Secret Advantage” that was literally right under Michaela, where she gets to steal another person’s vote at Tribal, so we’ll have to see if she can correctly use it. But one thing is certain: Sarah is now “on the radar” of everybody else and the others know that she is a big threat in this game.

A Line Drawn in Concrete

Here is the synopsis of the episode from CBS:

“Reinventing How This Game Is Played” – One castaway’s alliance reacts after one of their own admits to flipping, and another Survivor must decide if they should reveal their secret advantage in the game to a trusted ally, on SURVIVOR, Wednesday, May 3 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Now to analyze this, the wording is a bit tricky, because it obviously suggests Sarah when it talks about “admits to flipping” as well as when it mentions “reveal their secret advantage.” But the key phrase here is actually “and another Survivor,” implying that this synopsis is referring to two different people. We forget that Sierra does have the secret “Legacy Advantage,” so that portion might be referring to her, perhaps sharing the knowledge of her advantage with Brad, a “trusted ally”?

Reinventing How This Game Is Played

Sarah will surely still be at the center of things this week, but her move last week shifted the power – dangerously – back to Cirie and Andrea, who will most likely be looking to target Brad or Sierra this week. It will be interesting to see how and when the three hidden Idols – two in possession by Tai and one with Troyzan – will come into play. And then there’s that matter of Sarah’s Secret Advantage. Yes, just because the power shifted last week doesn’t mean that any of these remaining players has a clear path to the end…but I say the same thing every week: These “game changers” better start getting worried about Cirie, before it’s too late to do anything about it.
