Real Housewives casting director Melissa Stanforth said there’s no shortage of “socialites” and “wannabes” who want to be on Real Housewives, but she shared, she typically finds “new blood” via her professional sports and high-end real estate connections.
Melissa said she asks potentials, “What’s off the table?,” to gauge if reality TV would be a good fit. “[If they] say, ‘This, this, this, and that,’ I say, ‘You shouldn’t be on reality TV.'” Every once in a while, however, a perfect Real Housewives candidate just falls into their laps.
It has only been 7 months since season 7 ended, but in just four weeks The Real Housewives of New Yorkare heading back to our screens for an 8th season! I’m a tiny bit disappointed since April has been the starting time for new seasons of Real Housewives of New Jersey, but it’s looking like we’ll have to wait until later summer or fall for that premiere. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to have RHONY back (even if it’s without one of my favs, Heather Thomson).
Speaking of Heather, her efforts to help Sonja Morgan with her toaster oven empire may not have been a waste of time! Sonja dished this week that there is still a very good chance we’ll see these ovens up for sale.
Between the tight space and the plastic runway I can’t help but think Cynthia‘s show was held in the lobby of her hotel – without permission – and she lucked out when Mother Funders‘ Carla Stephens and Real Housewives of New York‘s Jill Zarin stumbled upon the “show” so Cynthia could pose for pictures with the “stars” who attended her show. Poor Cynthia. If I could stop laughing, I might feel sorry for her.
It was reported back in September that Bethenny had already signed on for season 8, but she now makes it official: “Yes. I am back [this season], and it is spicy. You know last year, I had my ‘new car smell’ still on me. And I wasn’t getting into too much trouble. This season, I am knee-deep in the mud.”
Well, Sonja is now speaking out about the booze and girl drama going down with her Real Housewives Of New York co-star. But Sonja insists she’s not about to let a business venture destroy a friendship! Bethenny doesn’t seem to share Sonja’s ethics!
