Earlier this month, MTV ceased production and canceled BUCKWILD following Shain Gandee's sudden death. Despite the show's decent ratings, MTV concluded, "Given Shain's tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him."

BUCKWILD producer J.P. Williams did not take kindly to the news, bashing the network for its teen pregnancy shows, and vowed to acquire the rights to continue the show with another network. According to Williams, his negotiations with MTV came to an abrupt end on Friday, and he did not win. Williams went on to accuse MTV of hypocrisy.

As we previously reported, MTV has decided to cancel BUCKWILD in the wake of Shain Gandee's untimely death

Personally, I found Shain to be the breakout star of the show, and I cannot imagine watching a single episode void of his beautiful smile and endearing personality. My gut tells me that MTV feels the same way.

While BUCKWILD's producer and cast are upset about the cancellation, the mayor of Charleston, West Virginia is blissfully happy. MTV has decided to pull the plug on BUCKWILD following the tragic death of Shain Gandee. Needless to say, the show's cast and producer J.P. Williams are not happy.

According to J.P., on Friday, MTV told those involved with production that BUCKWILD will continue as planned. Then, on Tuesday, MTV canceled the series. No explanation was given.

"This is the network that has shows about teen pregnancy. They'll stick by a show that allows you to abandon a child, but a kid dies by accident doing what he does for a living [mudding] and they cancel the show,” J.P. said. “There's something that smells of s–t here on every level."

Following the tragic passing of Shain Gandee, the 21-year-old star of the show BUCKWILD, MTV has decided to pull the plug on the short lived redneck reality series.

Last week MTV announced they were temporarily suspending filming for season 2 to let cast members heal. Filming was to possibly resume after Shain's funeral. However a network source confirms to Deadline that the show is formally and officially kaput in the wake of several scandals and the unfortunate passing of Shain.
